Sögur Publishing House, an Icelandic publisher based in Reykjavik, have published these  fascinating and detailed hiking and riding maps.

The maps come in a plastic folder, which is useful for both hiking and horse riding.

The map offers 29 different routes.

The main features are:

Contour lines with an interval of 20 meters

Historical references and beautiful descriptions that outline the landscape.

With overnight accommodations (lodges) along the paths are also indicated.

The colouring indicates different types of terrain and vegetation: lava, sand and mudflats, glaciers, etc.

Road network includes jeep roads and tracks;

Footpaths and bridleways are marked with symbols indicating which tracks are not recommended for hikers or horses.

Locations of campsites and shelters, country hotels and farmhouses, swimming pools, gas stations are also marked.

On the back of the map is a physical map of Iceland with basic tourist information.

The map does NOT feature a UTM grid (so it is not GPS compatible).
