We are delighted to offer access to the GroundSure's historical mapping archive, containing the most comprehensive collection of Ordnance Survey historical maps dating back to the 1840’s.
This large scale set offers scales including 1:2500 and 1:1250 (presented at 1:2500 for matching coverage) from Ordnance Survey's National Grid and County Series scanned at 508dpi (surpassing the market standard of just 300dpi).
The maps are site centred and orientated to the National Grid providing a clearer and truer picture of the historical character of their sites. The standard Historical Map Pack is composed of A3 maps delivered in PDF format by email
Each map within the pack is centred on the location you have given and will reflect the available mapping available for each date. This means that maps can be made up of digitally 'stitched together' parts of several original map sheets. There will sometimes be mismatch along the joins. If no mapping was available for part of the area covered by your centred sheets then this will mean there may be some blank areas on the final map. However if there is a map available within your area of interest we will still include it even if it means it will be partially blank.
The mapping used for the digital reconstruction are taken from several sources and there can be some variation in the quality of the source maps. This may be reflected by differing quality across a centred sheet after they have been scanned and joined.
The coverage extent on the A3 maps is about 650 by 650 metres
