The Julian Alps of SloveniaThe Julian Alps of Slovenia
(Ref. Code. CICERONEJUL)

The Julian Alps are considered by many to have the finest alpine limestone scenery in Europe. The peaks are relatively modest but possess a formidable sense of grandeur with scenery as wild and stunning as anywhere in Europe. The loftiest section is found in the north of the small independent state of Slovenia, once part of Yugoslavia, but free of the problems of its turbulent neighbours. The object of this guide is to introduce walkers of all ability to the splendours of the Julian Alps trhough a series of 30 walks. The walks have been especially chosen as an introduction to the area and vary considerably in difficult and character from scenic valley strolls to high mountain scrambles. Four regional centres serve as valley bases. All the walks, except the ascent on Triglav, are circular and each can be completed in a day.

New edition currently being printed - should be available from May 2005.
